We celebrate unpretentious, people-focused service where everyone is welcome. We’ve hand-picked micro-brewers and regional producers to create menus and drink lists that are as at home on our pub counter as they are in our dining room. We celebrate paddock to plate and local regional produce over imported. Forget mass-produced – our quest is all about flavour, taste and quality.
The Fleece’s food philosophy is simple; seasonal local, really good food.
We’re talking not too complicated or fancy, but always fresh and well sourced, preferably local. We’ve partnered up with Clamms Seafood and Flinders+Co for market fresh seafood and our menu features iconic Cape Grim Beef and Bass Strait Beef. We’ve created a menu of pub classics and new favourites that showcase the very best of regional produce. We have daily Chef specials, express lunches and feature days – what’s better than a burger and a Furphy on a Wednesday?
As the heart of Montague Street, almost next door to Melbourne’s notorious wharfs region, the Golden Fleece Hotel was infamous in the late 1800s and early 1900s as an old-school watering hole for dockers. On the whole, the docker’s workers cottages have been bulldozed and replaced by luxury multi-storey apartments, but the Fleece remains the same relaxed, unpretentious venue.
Our beers on tap are a mix of old faithfuls and contemporary brews, including our favourite micro brewery Jetty Road from the Mornington Peninsula. We also have, quite frankly, a flocking good wine list, again featuring some of our favourite Peninsula labels. Think Foxeys – we know you’ll love it.
